About Me

Hi There!

My name is Aaron Peterson and I grew up in the Chicagoland area, still living here for the time being. I am currently an undergrad studying photography at Columbia College Chicago. I am a musician, I play guitar and drums. I’m also a huge sports fan, supporting my Chicago teams. However, my main interests that you will find here on this website are travel and photography.

I don’t know exactly when I started to fall in love with traveling, but all I know is that the travel bug hit me hard. I currently sit at 26 countries and 44 states. Being a college student with limited funds, I find myself roughing it as a backpacker, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. Once I finish school, I plan on doing lots more extensive traveling as there’s still so much of the world to see (and of course, I find time to go on trips when I’m on break from school too).

Around the same time that I fell in love with traveling, I picked up a camera, which was a GoPro Hero8 Black (I ended up breaking this camera in the Dominican Republic. RIP GoPro 2020-2021). However, I wasn’t originally focused on photography, but rather on videography, and I even made a handful of vlogs during my travels. This was a way for me to document the trips I had taken. While doing this though, I discovered I had a much greater interest in photography and that became my focus. The more I photographed my travels, the more I fell in love with it and I eventually decided to study it and make it a career, and so here we are. Being a photography student now I am naturally trying out other kinds of photography rather than just the travel photography you see on this website. Some of that work may eventually see the light of day but travel photography is what I enjoy the most, combining two of my greatest passions into one.
